In their last 10, however, it looks a little different, as the good guys have just W2, W6, D2, including a huge 2-1 defeat in the Coppa Italia less than a month ago. And, because we’re feeling extra giddy right now, let’s mention that the Bergamo outfit haven’t won in Florence since 1993.
The judge for this is 37-year-old Maurizio Mariani in April. The real question is who will start up top, as Federico Chiesa, Vlahovic and Patrick Cutrone will all be licking their chops to take on this Dea defence.
It seems like we’ve seen this match a dozen times over the last few years, so you know what to expect. Atalanta always play with a long line, which means that Chiesa and company have to find space on the break. A strong, conservative midfield and a pair of very attacking wing-backs means that breaking into wide areas is often the best way forward, so Dalbert and Paul Lirola need to make plenty of runs to eliminate their opposite numbers and offer something up front. . The real wild card is the Viola’s midfield: if Castrovilli is back to his sparkling best and Duncan can provide a balance of defensive stability and functional vertical passing, Fiorentina will be in a good place.
