Freiburg moved three points closer to a Champions League spot on Saturday with a 3-2 win against Werder Bremen.
Max Kruse scored for Freiburg in the 36th minute from a free kick. Jan Rosenthal headed the ball into the path of Kruse and his side volley from the box went into the bottom right corner before Sebastian Mielitz was able to make it 1-0 for the visitors.
Bremen wasted no time in finding an equalizer. Kevin De Bruyne takes the ball and runs through the middle, putting the defense on the back foot. His pass found the legs of Nils Petersen and the former slotted the ball past the onrushing Oliver Baumann into the net. The goal was Petersen’s 10th of the season.
